Set in the beautiful Highland Perthshire region, this great Middle Distance race (1900m Swim, 90km Bike, 21km Run) takes in the cool, clear waters of Loch Tay, challenging roads over the shoulder of Schiehallion, a circumnavigation of the wild Loch Rannoch.

Sanctioned/Permitted by Triathlon Scotland. Please note only Core and Ultimate Members are eligible for Championship prizes. 

Aberfeldy Triathlon is organised by Richard Pearson from Still Going Strong Ltd winner of British Triathlon Event of the year in 2014.

Active Root will be joining us for the festival weekend and there will be Active Root bottles on the bike course as well as plenty of Active Root stations elsewhere.

Swim

1900m Swim in the spectacular Loch Tay.

The swim Start is based at Taymouth Marina on the shores of Loch Tay. Taymouth Marina is dominated by breath-taking views of Ben Lawers and the surrounding landscape.

The stunning scenery, coupled with an impressive range of on-site facilities, making Taymouth Marina the ideal swim start venue.

Bike

90km Road Cycle on quiet (and challenging!) roads of Highland Perthshire.

Leaving Taymouth Marina, the Bike course takes athletes on a spectacular journey into the breath-taking Highland Perthshire Countryside.

This will be an on road run in spectacular surroundings, the perfect way to finish this amazing race.

Race HQ

Race HQ will be in at the Breadalbane Community Campus in Aberfeldy.

Event car parking will be located at the Breadalbane Community Campus, Aberfeldy Town Hall and Aberfeldy Public Car Parks. Event Briefing will take place within the Breadalbane Community Campus.

PLEASE NOTE: Race registration/sign-on is on Saturday 16th August – there will be no registration on race day itself.

Transitions

T1 will be located at the Kenmore Recreation Ground a 800m walk from the Swim Start at Taymouth Marina, T2 will be located at the Golf Course Meadow opposite the Finish area and Event Hub in Wades Park

T1 will be open from 05:00 on Sunday morning to allow for bikes to be racked.

We recommend that athletes rack their bikes before 06:15 and note that transition will close at 06:30

Both transitions are high security areas and only competitors wearing their number will be allowed access. Mount and dismount lines will be clearly marked.

Cut Offs

Swim
The cut-off time for the swim is 1 hours 10 minutes from your start time. If you do not make the swim cut-off, you may not start the bike leg.

Bike
You must be able to make the 5 hour 30 minute cut-off point at T2. This is a combined swim and bike time at T2. The cut-off time for the bike is 5 hours and 30 minutes from your individual start time recorded by the timing chip. Unfortunately, athletes who do not make these cut-offs may not remain on the course. They will be collected by the sweep vehicles. If you do not make the bike cut-off, you may not start the run leg.

Run
Athletes must reach the half way turn around point in Strathtay by 14:45. unfortunately Athletes who do not make this time may not remain on the course and will be collected by Sweep Vehicles

Charity Partner

CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young

We are delighted once again to be working with CRY who will be our Event Charity Partner. They will deliver a drinks station on the Run Course and we will have collection buckets over the Race weekend, please give what you can to this wonderful charity. Their work towards preventing young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research, and supporting affected families is critical.

Medical Cover

Our Medical team is being led by The Scottish Ambulance service. Onsite during the event will be Paramedics, Doctors and First Aiders all highly experienced at supplying the highest calibre of comprehensive medical cover at a range of sporting events.

Medical Conditions

We ask that all athletes show a sensible approach towards entering the event and if you feel at all unwell either prior, during or after the event you either withdraw and or seek assistance from the Medical Team.
