Q: What are the event dates and location?
A: The Aberfeldy Middle Distance Triathlon will take place on 17th August 2025 in the stunning Highland Perthshire region. Please note that Aberfeldy Triathlon operates with split transitions so the swim starts at Taymouth Marina; transition 1 is at Kenmore Recreation Ground; and Transition 2 and the finish are at Wades Park.

Any changes to the course from this will be notified to you in the Athlete Guide that comes out just before the race and at the race briefing on race weekend.

Q: What are the race distances?
A: The race includes:

  • 1.9 km Swim (in Loch Tay)
  • 90 km Bike (through scenic Highland roads)
  • 21.1 km Run (on an out and back course along the River Tay).

Q: Who can participate?
A: Athletes aged 18 and over on race day can participate.

Q: How do I register for the race?
A: Registration is online here. Entries close on 12th August 2025 or when the event reaches capacity.

Q: Are there relay options available?
A: Yes, teams of up to three participants can enter the relay category, where each member completes one leg of the race (swim, bike, or run). Sign up here

Q: Is there an AquaBike option available?
A: Yes, you can do the swim and bike on their own without the run. Sign up here

Q: I’ve made a mistake on my entry form. How do I amend it?

Q: How do I defer my entry?
A: Please email us on info@aberfeldytriathlon.com with your details. The change will attract an admin fee of £20.

Q: How do I change my entry?
A: Please email us on info@aberfeldytriathlon.com with your details. The change will attract an admin fee of £10 and the difference in any race fees e.g. if you wish to transfer from the Aqua Bike to the Triathlon. If you wish to change to an event with a lower entrance fee, we cannot offer a refund but only the admin fee applies.

Pre-Race Information

Q: Can I collect my race pack on the day?
A: Race packs must be collected during the designated times on Saturday 16th August 2025. You will also need to attend one of our mandatory race briefings at the Breadalbane Community Campus. Full details will be in the Athlete Guide sent out to you 10-14 days before the event. B

Q: What do I need to bring to check-in?
A: You’ll need:

  • A photo ID
  • Your triathlon licence (if applicable)

Q: Are wetsuits mandatory for the swim?
A: Yes, wetsuits are mandatory due to water temperature and British Triathlon Rules.

Q: What is the water temperature in Loch Tay?
A: The average water temperature in August is around 14–16°C, but we recommend checking our updates on social media closer to race day.

Race Day Logistics

Q: Is there parking available?
A: Yes, parking is available at Kenmore Recreation Ground for the start of the race. There is no parking at Taymouth Marina.  We encourage car sharing where possible. There is a short walk from Kenmore to the start at Taymouth Marina and we recommend using some old footwear to protect your feet. Please understand that you will not get this footwear back.

Q: Are there cut-off times for the race?
A: Yes, the following cut-off times apply:

  • Swim: 1 hour 10 minutes
  • Bike: 5 hours 30 minutes (total time from the athlete’s chip start time).
  • Run: Athletes have approximately 7 hours to reach the halfway point on the 21km run. 

Q: What nutrition is provided on the course?
A: Aid stations will provide water, energy gels, isotonic drinks, and snacks. Full details will be in the athlete guide which is sent out to you around 10-14 days prior to the event.

Q: How do I get back to my car at Transition One?
A: We provide a shuttle service back to T1 for any athletes who have cars left in the Event car park in Kenmore. The service will run from 13:00-16:00 and will leave from the finish line at Wade’s Park.

Spectators & Supporters

Q: Can spectators watch the race?
A: Absolutely! Spectators are welcome at key viewing points, including the swim start, transition areas, and finish line. Please respect course marshals and safety zones.

Q: Are there any local accommodation recommendations?
A: Aberfeldy and the surrounding area offer a range of accommodations, from hotels to campsites. Visit our accommodation page to find out more.

Post-Race Information

Q: Will there be an awards ceremony?
A: Yes, the awards ceremony will take place at the finish line in Wades Park at approximately 3pm. Prizes will be given for overall and age-group winners, as well as relay teams.

Q: Will photos of the event be available?
A: There will be official race photos on our Facebook page in the week after the race. These are free to download but we do not guarantee that you will receive a photo of you on race day.
